MOONBIRD

HOW slow-paced breathing exercises improve your performance in life but also sports, and how moonbird can help you accomplish that.

Did you know slow-paced breathing exercises improve your performance?

You might think there’s nothing more to breathing than inhale, exhale, and repeat. But think again. Taking a closer look at how you breathe isn't a waste of time, given that oxygen is the most essential nutrient for your body.

And your body needs all the energy it can possibly get during a workout. But did you know that it’s not only important to focus on your breathing during exercise, but also when you’re not performing?

Why a high heart rate variability is important

A high HRV indicates the body’s ability to quickly feel a boost of energy and move into action, and then quickly relax and recover. It basically means you have a flexible nervous system, being able to easily switch from ‘on’ to ‘off’ and back. Along with its association with the nervous system and cardiac health, HRV is directly linked to performance.

Tracking your HRV can relay very powerful information about the state of your physical, and also mental health. But what can you do to optimize your HRV? Well, breathing is the secret.

Coherent breathing to improve your HRV

The best way to improve your HRV and overall health is to regularly do breathing exercises, in which you breathe at a slow but steady, coherent pace. Even 5 minutes of conscious, coherent breathing can make a big difference in your day.

Science has shown that there is an 'ideal' breathing rhythm that is optimal to find balance: breathing in for 5.5 seconds and out for 5.5 seconds. At this pace, you breathe 5.5 times per minute. This is an average, each body is different and comes with a personal and unique breathing rhythm, that will be anywhere in between 4 seconds in and out (7.5 breaths per minute) and 7 seconds in and out (around 4.3 breaths per minute). Breathing at this rate calms and balances your nervous system and makes your body stronger to perform.

Moonbird makes breathing easily and effortlessly
