THE ANTHONY EDWARDS TAKEOVER

AE MAKING A MARK ON BASKETBALL

Whether a lead character in an Adam Sandler movie, the face of one of the dopest sneaker campaigns we've seen in years or postering your favourite NBA superstar - at just 22 years old, Anthony Edwards has made a mark on basketball that is impossible to ignore.

Despite rumours that the NBA is reluctant to promote Anthony Edwards as the face of the league, Ant-Man has smashed through any supposed limitations placed on him, in a ferocious fashion. Outside of his extremely convincing role in 'Hustle', Edwards first came to my attention as a rookie when he caught a body against Toronto back in early 2021. It was February, and COVID still had fans watching games on laptops and TVs instead of bleachers and stadiums. It was a good thing that the few stadium staff in attendance were still wearing masks because AE's filthy throwdown was the sickest thing we'd seen that year.

Not only has Edwards filled the void left on weekly highlight reels by Ja Morant's absence, he also has game. Mad game. Don't take my word for it, it was the mighty Kevin Garnett who was one of the first to make the comparison between Anthony Edwards and a young Michael Jordan, with countless other Hall of Famers sharing the same view. The comparison isn't far-fetched, either. Whether mid-range, 3-pointers, post moves, or in the clutch - Edwards is demonstrating a package that is hard to argue against.

He came into this year's playoffs with everything to prove. The fact that he and the T-Wolves have demolished a so-called 'superteam', the Phoenix Suns (I know, they weren't at full strength), in the first round should be a cause of concern for any title contenders who are currently underestimating Minnesota in the race to the top. I'm looking at you, Denver...

Not to get too overexcited with the Jordan comparisons, but it's worth mentioning that with a great player should come a great pair of signature basketball shoes. For me, the AE1s are some of the best-looking and performing sneaks that I've seen in years, with Edward's current status making them even more appealing. Despite a range of colourways dropping throughout the season, the AE1s haven't been easy to cop as they haven't been sitting on shelves for long. At BounceWear, as usual, we've got you.

You can grab the AE1s in-store at various BouceWear locations as well as on our online store.
Be quick though, the shoes, like their signature athlete, are sometimes underestimated.
